Consumer Critiques

Ok, the product is fine as advertised. It's an emergency supply of food for 1 adult for 3 days (don't forget to have sufficient water). I like to bring Mountain Property packs with me when I go motorcycle camping or backpacking. They are light, uncomplicated to pack, and I enjoy them. Sometimes they take the role of "just in case" food, and occasionally they serve as a planned meal. The chili mac with beef is a private preferred, as is the beef stroganoff. I'm not specifically fond of beef stroganoff in most cases, but there's one thing about a savory meal when camping. Mountain Property meals ordinarily taste superior than many of the freeze-dried alternatives.
So why did I say "practically best?" Well, I'd prefer it if they sold this kit with the 2-serving packets. I'm generally moto-camping or backpacking with a person. It really is super-handy to have a single package for two many people. Less waste. On the plus side, it really is not five-serving packages like some other emergency kits. Because it really is advertised for a single individual, this is expected.
Second, the vegetable packs (which are 2-serving packs, even though I am guessing are intended for a single individual) are a waste for a house emergency kit. Get canned vegetables as an alternative. The vegetable packs are outstanding for backpacking, as they will assist keep your digestive program happy. They do not come out really as great as canned vegetables, but they are substantially lighter.
If you are debating in between this and MREs, there is a few issues to think of:
1) Personally, I consider MREs do not taste as excellent as Mountain Home meals
2) MREs don't demand a stove and fuel (MRE heating packs)
three) MREs do not require additional water (true of canned foods, also)
I do have MREs occasionally for moto-camping, but not for backpacking, as I favor the Mountain Home meals.

Despite the fact that the food top quality is decent - and the packages should final for a while, it really is a bit deceptive to say that a TOTAL of about 2500 calories is sufficient for a individual for three days. Unless you're on a truly tight diet regime. For a short term like 72 hours basically maintain some canned food about (or some MRE's) and you'd do significantly much better. If you insist on camping (dehydrated) food - simply obtain a handful of of the genuine meals from this firm. At least you'll be eating enough to preserve the stomach rumbles down.
